Squarespace Mobile View Just Got a Major Upgrade

If you’ve ever edited your website and thought, “Why does this look great on desktop but weird on mobile?” — you are definitely not alone.

For a long time, one of the frustrating parts of designing in Squarespace was trying to improve your Squarespace mobile view without accidentally affecting your desktop layout too. Now, thankfully, Squarespace 7.1 has made that much easier with Mobile Overrides.

This new feature gives website owners and designers more control over mobile layouts while still keeping the desktop design as the foundation.

What Are Mobile Overrides in Squarespace?

Mobile Overrides let you make certain design changes specifically for mobile without changing how that same section or block looks on desktop.

That means you can now fine-tune your Squarespace mobile view in a much more intentional way. Your content stays synced across devices, but the design settings for mobile can now be adjusted more independently.

According to Squarespace, you can now customize supported Finish Layer settings for mobile, including:

  • Transforms

  • Animations

  • Stacks

You can also use the Reset actions menu if you want to remove mobile overrides or apply your mobile edits back to desktop.

Why This Matters for Your Squarespace Mobile View

This update is a big deal because mobile design is no longer just a “nice extra.” It’s essential.

A huge percentage of website visitors are viewing your site on their phones, not on a laptop or desktop computer. So if your Squarespace mobile view feels cluttered, awkward, or hard to navigate, that can directly affect user experience and even conversions.

With Mobile Overrides, you can create cleaner, more polished mobile layouts without having to compromise your desktop design.

A Small Update That Solves a Big Problem

This is one of those updates that sounds simple, but can make a huge difference in real website design work. If you’ve ever wished for more control over your Squarespace mobile view, this is a feature worth exploring.

It gives you more flexibility, better mobile design options, and fewer moments of “wait… why did that move everywhere?”

Honestly, we love an update that causes less chaos.
